From the Frontlines: Getting PPE to Those in Need

We’re all hearing about the disheartening short supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) at hospitals and ERs across the country — how the healthcare heroes on the frontlines are fighting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and desperately trying to keep themselves healthy at the same time.

But we’re also hearing stories about folks donating surgical masks, N95 respirators, eyewear, and gloves to those most in need. One such story is hitting super close to home for us.

The Emergency Services at Yale New Haven Hospital and at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital are comprehensive, multidisciplinary centers, staffed to treat the needs of adults and children with acute and urgent illnesses and injuries.

Nicole Modell, the daughter of Identiv’s own Louis Modell, VP Sales Americas, has just completed her Master’s degree in Health Sciences and is looking forward to continuing her education to become a Physician Assistant. She currently works in the Radiology Department at Yale New Haven Hospital and is seeing multiple patients diagnosed with COVID-19 nightly.

Another of our own, Steve Dunlap, Thursby President, just received a donation of surgical masks, and he made sure 50 of those masks went straight to Nicole.

Additionally, Steve sent masks to an old family friend, Ginny Goodman, head nurse at the Dallas Regional Medical Center, to distribute among her team.

We’re so grateful to hear about big and small acts of kindness. And we’re even more grateful for the healthcare workers fighting to save lives and keep us safe.
Every. Single. Day.
